Fractional CTO and technical leadership

Technical direction for a team without a CTO. Architecture, hiring, and vendor decisions.

What it costs

  • Hourly.
  • No retainer, no minimum.

What you get

  • Architecture and build-versus-buy decisions, written down with the reasoning.
  • Technical interviews run, and an honest read on each candidate.
  • Vendor and platform contracts reviewed before you sign them.

Common questions

How many hours does this usually take?

Less than people expect. Most of the value is in a handful of decisions a month, not in attendance. Busy stretches happen around hiring, fundraising and platform changes.

Do you write code as well?

Sometimes, when it is absolutely necessary. But this is the direction-setting engagement. If you need the product built, that is product ownership or a fixed-price project.

What happens when we hire a full-time CTO?

We hand over and leave. Ideally we spend some time debriefing with the new CTO, which makes the handover a conversation rather than an archaeology project.
